The Torbay Singers was formed in summer 1967 through a merger of the Torquay Philharmonic Society and the Lansdowne Singers. To celebrate 50 years of music-making in South Devon and beyond, the choir is delighted to present a special celebration season of major events, starting with a sparkling Christmas celebration, Joy to the World on Saturday 2nd December. Spring will fulfil a long-held ambition to present Monteverdi's splendid Vespers of 1610, with an orchestra including historic brass instruments evoking the majesty of St Mark's Venice. Summer takes the choir back to the serene surroundings of Buckfast Abbey for a programme of sacred song.
